Amazon Launches New Skincare Line, Acknowledging the Clean Beauty Movement
Amazon just ventured into the skincare game with its launch of an affordable lined called Belei—and it seems they’re paying attention to what consumers want. As more and more consumers begin to question the safety of the ingredients in their products, how they’re tested, and how sustainable they are, Amazon is responding with a line that meets many of these needs. The line is formulated without parabens or phthalates, is packaged in post-consumer recycled packaging and recyclable cartons, and is not tested on animals.
This is big news for the clean beauty movement, as it means that more companies are responding to demands for safer beauty products with more transparency around ingredients. Although the line isn’t as green as many cult, green-beauty favorites, Belei is still a step in a cleaner direction from a company that has the power to impact the industry in ways we might not have seen before.
Belei offers products with on-trend ingredients such as charcoal, hyaluronic acid, micellar water and vitamin C, with practical price points ranging from $9 to $40. There are 12 products total in the line including eye cream, sunscreen, a face mask, moisturizers, serums and micellar wipes. The sunscreen is SPF 50 and protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
