Martha’s Vineyard Wellness Trip

2 min read

Part One

The past few months have been all around HARD to say the least. Emotionally and spiritually I was in need of a getaway. When Visit Martha’s Vineyard reached out to me about a wellness getaway to Martha’s Vineyard it was a quick YES!

Excited to explore the island in a more thoughtful way with a focus on wellness I went to mvy.com to learn more about safety practices for visiting Martha’s Vineyard. You can specifically learn about COVID-19 safety practices here

I live right outside of Boston, haven’t been on a plane in over a year (very long time for me) so I knew my fiancé and I would drive down to the Cape and then take the ferry

Martha’s Vineyard is very dog friendly which made the decision to visit even easier. Our dog Max has been with us almost every hour of every single day since March 2020 so we were really happy he could join us.

I am not known to pack light in the best of times…but in these times? Forget about it. I am traveling with my own pillow, pillowcases, dog bed and all sorts of things. It was really nice to just pack the car and not have to worry about unloading the car when we got to the Cape. We simply drove onto the ferry, parked and went to the 2nd floor to enjoy the views.

This was my first time driving onto a ferry. Ever. In my Life.

I consider ferry rides to be part of the vacation and enjoy sitting outside on the deck smelling the fresh air and enjoying the sun on my face. It is also tends to be the more socially distant friendly option.

Pro Tip: Sit on the top deck of the Steamship Authority Ferry. Plenty of space to spread out in the fresh air. Max highly recommends.

The ferry ride to Martha’s Vineyard was a quick 45 minutes. Right before we pulled into the dock, we went down to the car for an easy disembarking.

We were booked at the Mansion House for our stay. Beyond convenient: Minutes away from the ferry, dog friendly, and centrally located.

Thanks to the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce for facilitating this trip and services received.
