#MyCleanBeautyShelf: Peek Inside the Morning Routine of Graydon Moffatt, Founder and Ingredient Anthropologist of Graydon Skincare
Graydon says she was born an entrepreneur, which has lead her to become the founder and ingredient anthropologist of Graydon Skincare. Before Graydon Skincare, she worked as a designer, chef and yoga instructor where she gathered important knowledge on fresh, raw and healing ingredients. With this, she vowed to bring efficacy and transparency into the natural skincare community. Her earliest partners were with superfood farmers, where she gathered oil blends and extracts that had clinically proven actives, concocting different skin smoothies that worked to support and improve your skin. This is how Graydon Skincare was born. So what does the skincare chef use in her own morning routine? Let’s take a peek into Graydon’s #MyCleanBeautyShelf.
My beauty philosophy is…
To me, beauty means feeling well and good in my body. When I am feeling good, and feeling connected to my body physically, emotionally and spiritually, I feel beautiful.
First thing in the morning, I…
…like to cook. I’ll start my day by making savory dishes, soups and salad dressings to help set me up for the day. I like to be focused in the office and find that if I haven’t already prepared something that’s easy to eat, then I forget to eat and end up crashing. I find cooking in the morning to be therapeutic and realize it’s not usually how people start their day, but I like to start and finish work later in the day. This makes it easier for me to finish off my evenings with some dark chocolate and a nice glass of wine.
My morning skincare routine includes…
I am a firm believer that a gentle light cleanse of one’s face is critical to creating healthy, nourished and supple skin. For me, that means cleansing my face with an oil-based cleanser, like our Aloe Milk Cleanser, in conjunction with a sponge, like our Bamboo-Charcoal Sponge. The reason for this is because we all know that overnight the debris that is left on your face (although microscopic) really builds up with dead skin cells and sebum that needs to be gently removed from your face. This way when you put on your serum and/or moisturizer, your skin is in the perfect state to actively absorb it.
My morning haircare routine includes…
I am a bare-bones type of beauty individual that doesn’t like to spend a lot of time on my hair. To freshen my hair I like to spritz it with our Face Food Mineral Mist and then thoroughly brush my hair with my head upside down to massage my scalp at the same time. This helps stimulate my hair follicles, which is more needed these days.
My morning makeup routine includes…
As a lot of people are these days, I am usually time-crunched and don’t have the luxury to have a long makeup routine. This is why I strive for the no makeup, makeup look and have a profound appreciation for our Face Glow. Face Glow is our tinted moisturizer, illuminator and highlighter. After cleansing with my Aloe Milk Cleanser, toning my skin with a few spritzes of our Face Food, I will apply Face Glow all over and wear it alone (unless I have somewhere special to go). For days that I need to be a bit more glam and fancy, I will use Face Glow as a primer and apply some of my favorite makeup products from Elate Cosmetics, Sappho and Fitglow Beauty!
Any makeup or skincare tips?
If you are crunched for time like I am, consider making skin smoothies! Instead of a 10-step skincare routine, combine some of your beauty products into one before applying. I like to mix our Berry Rich Cream with Fullmoon Serum to help diffuse the consistency and to help my skin absorb all the active ingredients and nutrients more effectively. This goes hand in hand with hydration being important from the inside out! Don’t forget to hydrate with water (or with soups and stews) throughout the day,—it will improve the way you feel and the way your skin looks!
What’s your desert-island/cant-live-without beauty product?
My desert island/can’t-live-without beauty product would have to be our Intimacy Oil. I can use it to take off my makeup, as a body oil, moisturizer, cuticle oil and as oil for my hair! It even has the best smell.
