#MyCleanBeautyShelf: Peek Inside the Morning Routine of Jen White, Creative Director – One Over One
Hi, there! My name is Jen White and I am the Creative Director for One Over One. I am an artist at heart and always look at things with a creative eye. I have always been fascinated with the idea of beauty and how it makes us feel as people. I spent years making art on the subject, and then stumbled into working in the beauty industry as a creative director and brand builder through my design agency Drawing From Memory that I founded in early 2008. Through my agency work, I helped concept and build numerous brands including Colour Pop, and helped to re-focus some of the color industry icons like Lorac and Lip Smacker. Through the years I developed a passion for clean living which included my makeup bag. Today, I champion clean beauty and living in all aspects of my work and life. Let’s take a look into Jen’s #MyCleanBeautyShelf.
My beauty philosophy is…
I rely less on products to solve my issues these days, and try to solve my beauty challenges with lifestyle and food. It is more of a holistic approach to beauty that can be long and arduous, but more rewarding in the end.
First thing in the morning, I…
Try to move. Even if it is a little stretching, I try to get my body limber. From there, it is a mad dash to the kitchen to make breakfast and lunch for my children. We always share a smoothie in the morning, and what my boys don’t know is that I pack it with skin healthy fats and beautifying veggies. Really for my benefit, but it doesn’t hurt their cute little faces either.
My morning skincare routine consists of…
My skin is dry, so I moisturize a lot. I layer oils, butters, and creams to really hydrate.
My morning haircare routine consists of…
Just a quick blow dry. I try to wash my hair every few days, but I find with a little bit of my hair’s own natural oils I can avoid using styling products.
My morning makeup routine consists of…
I always have on a little mascara and brow gel. We are in the process of making one, so I have been testing out the samples for about a year to get it right. Otherwise, I swipe on a little of our duotone on my cheeks and lips for a simple touch of color.
Any skincare/make-up tips?
I stopped washing my face with soap a few months ago and it feels much more hydrated. Instead I use our micellar water to clear away makeup and then follow up with a toner and moisturizer before heading to bed.
What’s your desert-island/can’t-live-without skincare product?
Sunscreen. Unless it was all shade, then I think a face oil would be my best friend.
