#MyCleanBeautyShelf: Peek Inside The Morning Routine of Khaki Paquette, Owner & Creator of Face Food

5 min read

Hi! My name is Khaki and I am founder and creator of Face Food Natural Skincare as well as Owner of Face Food Natural Beauty Market & Spa. I am a Holistic Esthetician and have been practicing for 12 years. I created Face Food Skincare in early 2014 in hopes to be able to offer my clients products that were wholesome, natural and healing. I believe that natural beauty products should be accessible to everyone which is why I expanded my skincare studio and product line to a brick and mortar retail store and spa. Face Food offers not only natural facials, Gua Sha facials, organic makeup services, waxing and more, we also have a wide range of 100% natural beauty products at price points that make going “green” feel do-able and accessible. Healthy skin for everyone! Let’s take a look inside Khaki’s #MyCleanBeautyShelf.

My beauty philosophy is…

Beauty to me is a feeling of course. For me personally, it’s hard to feel not only beautiful but like I am treating myself well unless I am using healthy products. Feeling beautiful means feeling taken care of. I feel good when I am doing good for myself. Eating well, moving my body, sleeping, creating healthy rituals. I think surrounding yourself with people that support you and love you unconditionally is paramount to feeling beauty in your life as well.

First thing in the morning, I…

Lately I roll over and turn on my “Happy Light”, a light that my husband got me for Christmas that is supposed to mimic the Sun for dreary winter months! I have a 4 yr old and 6 yr old that I have to get ready for preschool and 1st grade every morning so as soon as I hit downstairs, it’s coffee time haha.

My morning skincare routine includes…

Honestly, I focus more on my night time routine which I will talk about in a minute. I shower at night so in the morning I use the Face Food Flower Power Toner to just freshen and soothe my face/prep it for moisture. I then use Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum and let that sink in. Next is Face Food Dawn Renewal Serum mixed into either Suntegrity Facial SPF30 Moisturizer or the OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream (depending on sun level, time outside). The Dawn Serum provides added moisture and environmental protection as well as preps my under eye area for makeup. Suntegrity SPF is amaaaazing and smells like oranges, its super hydrating and the ONLY sunscreen moisturizer that I feel actually moisturizes enough (and it’s a primer!). OSEA Atmosphere Protection is a little lighter than the Suntegrity but provides excellent protection from environmental toxins and is also a lovely primer. If I feel like going lighter than I use Ursa Major Golden Hour Recovery.

My morning haircare routine includes…

Oh boy, I wish I had more time for my hair. I alternate using Ursa Major’s Shampoo and Conditioner and Innersense Beauty. I do love Innersense Sweet Spirit Leave In conditioner as well for both myself and my daughter. Usually I’ve dried my hair the night before using one of those hair dryer/brush combos so in the AM it’s a brush through it and that’s it. Before I blow dry I do use a smidge of either the Innersense Leave In or their Whipped Cream Texturizer.

My morning makeup routine includes…

None of my makeup is pictured which is too bad because that is the fun stuff! I cannot live without my Face Food Liquid Foundation. I use a half pump of that in my fingertips and simply rubbed into my face like lotion. It is aloe based so it feel super light but its great coverage. I also use Face Food Concealer under my eyes and around my nose or on blemishes. I keep eyes simple on the day to day and use Face Food Peach Ice eyeshadow all over then black winged liner and Face Food black mascara. For Brows I use Face Food retractable brow pencil in “deep taupe” and ZuZu Luxe’s clear mascara. I will hit a little contour under my cheek bones with Vapour Organic Beauty Bronzer stick in “simmer” and I am currently obsessed with Ritual De Fille which I carry at my store and use their Inner Glow Pigment Cream in either Lovesick or Rapture on my cheeks (and eyes!). If I am having fun with my eyes or adding highlighter I use Rituel De Fille Ghost Light for highlight and their Celestial Eye Soots for major shimmer and holographic effects on my eyes. So pretty. I have about 100 Axiology lipsticks haha, but I use The Goodness, Instinct and Eros on the reg. If I do a gloss its Face Food, What a Babe, Pink-ing of You or Kiss my Tulips.

Any makeup or skincare tips you want to share?

NIGHT TIME. Don’t skip your evening ritual! I like to have a cleanser in every category, lathering, oil and cream. To remove my makeup the Face Food Blueberry Green Tea Cleansing Cream is everything! Or I use Good Medicine’s Rain Cleansing Oil (if I am breaking out). In the shower I always keep Ursa Major Fantastic Face Wash. I use different creams and things depending on what my skin is doing or how I am feeling. In rotation right now is Face Food Rosehip Lavender Cream (dry cold nights), Face Food Dusk Radiance Treatment Serum (brightening oil), OSEA Advanced Protection Cream (firming!), Mad Hippie’s new Triple C Cream (SO SOFT) or if I am feeling dry and all out of whack I sleep with a thin layer of Face Food Balance Repair Renew Mask on. Almost all nights I use the Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum before I moisturize as well and finish with either the OSEA Eye and Lip Firming Cream or Good Medicine’s Starry Eyes eye cream.

What’s your desert island/can’t-live-without beauty product?

From the Esthetician….SPF of course ; )
