#MyCleanBeautyShelf: What Rachel Taylor, Owner of Fig & Flower Natural Beauty, Uses In Her Daily Routine

3 min read

Fig & Flower, the Atlanta-based clean beauty boutique, believes that using natural, eco-friendly products is the safest and most effective way to look and feel your best. It was founded on the idea that finding safe and effective products should be convenient and simpler, given that there are so few regulations on personal care products. Rachel Taylor, makeup artist and current owner of Fig & Flower, is part of the reason that the shop can connect customers to beauty products they love. But what does she keep on her own beauty shelf? A peek in her cabinet is the latest in our #MyCleanBeautyShelf series.

My beauty philosophy is…

To me, beauty means being authentic and listening to yourself and doing what feels best for you in the moment.

First thing in the morning, I…

Say good morning to my dog (who is usually trying to lick my face) and start a fresh pot of coffee.

My morning skincare routine

My skin leans on the drier side so I usually use a hydrating toner such as Indie Lee’s CO-Q10 instead of washing my face to help refresh and balance. While my face is still damp, I’ll massage a facial oil into the toner. My favorite right now is RMS Beauty’s Beauty Oil. Then I like to use my Rose Quartz Facial Roller to help ease any puffiness. Afterwards, I follow up with a lightweight eye cream—my go-to has been 100% Pure’s Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream. Finally, I use a heavier lip balm to help hydrate and prep my lips.

My morning haircare routine

I must admit, I’m much lazier when it comes to my hair than my skincare and makeup. I wash it every few days depending what I have going on and how it’s feeling. Days when I’m washing my hair, I love using Max Green Alchemy’s Scalp Rescue shampoo and conditioner, and following up with a heat protectant spray from Evolvh. When I don’t need to wash my hair, I’ll add in some dry shampoo and to refresh, use a sea salt spray. My favorite is from Apoterra.

My morning makeup routine

I change my makeup routine daily. I love experimenting with new looks and go off how I’m feeling that day. Most days, I like to focus on skin and use a lightweight foundation such as Vapour Organic Beauty’s Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation. I use RMS “Un” cover up as a concealer under my eyes and over any imperfections. I set everything with RMS “Un” Powder and apply bronzer and blush. I love using one great shadow all over the lid with light eyeliner to enhance my lash line. I curl my lashes using an awesome twisting technique I saw in one of Katey Denno’s YouTube videos. I apply mascara and lip color, which usually in the morning is an ILIA tinted lip conditioner. My last step is always highlighting. I’m obsessed with RMS Beauty’s Living Luminizer.

My favorite beauty tip

If you want to give your mascara more staying power, try dusting your lashes with a light layer of translucent powder prior to applying mascara. This trick also works great with brows!
