Try This DIY Manuka Honey Mask for Glowing Skin
Skin feeling a bit dull, tired and lackluster now that we’ve hit January? Colder temps, drier weather and being stuck in forced heating environments can all contribute to skin looking and feeling zapped of its glow. Thankfully, Manuka honey and a few other pantry staples can be your kitchen beautician for glowing skin this winter.
Raw, sourced from New Zealand Manuka honey is full of amino acids, B vitamins and dozens of other vitamins and minerals, like copper, iron, magnesium, potassium and zinc. These all contribute to a healthy complexion, as depletion of any vital nutrients can rob your skin of its glow.
Manuka honey has four times the nutritional content of regular raw honey, and it’s known to calm redness and irritation, cleanse pores, and soothe and help heal skin, whether your ailment is dull dryness or excessive blemishes.
DIY Manuka Honey Mask for Glowing Skin
- 1 Tbsp. Manuka honey (hydrating, antibactieral, gently exfoliating)
- 1 tsp. ground oats (soothing and calming, while also being a gentle exfoliant)
- 1 tsp. pureed avocado (an extra boost of emollient healthy fats and oils for moisturized skin)
- 1/2 tsp. fresh squeezed lemon juice (the citric acid will help brighten, as well as exfoliate)
Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl. Apply to skin for 10-20 minutes (the more sensitive your skin, the less time you should let go by). When removing, use your fingers to gently massage the concoction into your skin in small circles before rinsing clean.
